The right gastric vein runs along the stomach's lesser curvature toward the pylorus (to the right). It meets up with the hepatic portal vein at its lower portion, behind the duodenum. The prepyloric vein, a small vein which runs up and down and across the rear of the gastro-duodenal junction of the pyloric ring, feeds directly into the right gastric vein. The right gastric vein empties deoxygenated blood into the liver's capillary beds.
