Left Brain - Left Side?
The two cerebral hemispheres of the brain are virtual mirror images of
each other, but their functions are, in fact, very different. The basic
difference between the two is that the right hemisphere controls the left
side of the body, and the left hemisphere controls the right side of the
body. The crossover of nerve pathways inside the medulla oblongata is
readily observable (if your job is looking into people's heads). Although
it is possible to chart many specific brain functions (which side of the
brain contains intelligence and where is the elusive spark of creativity
to be found?), the answers are not easy to come by. One of the main
reasons it is difficult to find answers to these questions is that the
highest human qualities are difficult to measure and almost impossible to
define.
