Trigeminal Ganglion

The trigeminal ganglion lies in the pocket that occupies the trigeminal impression near the apex of the temporal bone. The peripheral fibers from the ganglion are collected into three large divisions: the ophthalmic, the maxillary, and the mandibular nerves. Four small ganglia are associated with these nerves: the "ciliary ganglion" with the ophthalmic, the "pterygopalatine" with the maxillary, and the "optic" and "submandibular" with the mandibular.
