Vault Review: Your at-home men’s health solution?

We thoroughly tested Vault Health -- learn about available treatments, cost, and value compared to competitors

Vault reviews

There used to be a cliche that “a real man” doesn’t need to go to the doctor; if you’re masculine enough, you’ll survive anything without medical intervention. Luckily, times have changed, and it is now socially acceptable for men to participate in self-care and seek help for medical concerns.

In fact, the conversation around men’s health must continue to change to ensure that untruths about masculinity and health don’t keep men from seeking help, especially when it comes to reproductive and sexual health. Companies like Vault exist to open up these lines of communication and make men more likely to find treatment.

But how does Vault’s medical service stack up? How does Vault compare in quality to traditional doctor’s visits or telemedicine competitors? Does the pricing make it a good value? We thoroughly tested Vault and share all of the details here in this review so that you can decide whether it’s right for you.

Why you should trust us

Over the past two decades, Innerbody Research helped tens of millions of readers make more informed decisions involving staying healthy and living healthier lifestyles.

We extensively test each health service we review. Our team has spent hundreds of hours testing and researching telemedical providers. We try our best to give you, our readers, an unbiased exploration of at-home health services, free of marketing jargon or gimmicks. We evaluate the service based on our adherence to quality, the latest medical evidence and health standards, and a simple question: would we buy the product or service ourselves if it weren’t part of our job, and would we recommend it to family and friends?

Additionally, like all health-related content on this website, this review of Vault was thoroughly vetted by one or more members of our Medical Review Board for accuracy.

How we evaluated Vault

Vault’s products are convenient, discreet, and of high quality. After taking a simple quiz, Vault suggests which kits may best treat your concerns. Choose one or many of the kits after reading their thorough product descriptions. Bundling their services in this way allows Vault to treat many issues at once, keeping you from having to “shop around” at many sites for multiple products.

Your order ships discreetly without revealing what’s inside, so you don’t run the risk of privacy violations. Most services include at-home telehealth appointments and screenings, so you don’t even need to see a doctor in person. Vault’s physicians are board-certified and specialize in men’s health. There are some services that Vault does not yet offer that other competitors do. Keep in mind that Vault is expanding and hopes to provide mental health and STI testing to a broader customer base in the future.

Vault’s kits are priced by month and require a 3-month commitment. Because they bundle their services, you receive multiple products within each kit, making prices a bit higher than purchasing just one item. Some competitors offer single services or products at lower prices, but if you are concerned about multiple issues, product bundling may be more cost-effective for you.

Kits range in price from $75/month-$299/month. It’s up to you to decide if the products offered within each kit are worth the price or if you prefer to purchase a single item for a lower cost on a different site. Many men find it convenient to have a one-stop shop for their health concerns, but some might find price options inflexible.

Vault’s products include ingredients known to be effective and improve health. For example, the Vault Sex Kit and Vault Libido Kit use tadalafil tablets to increase blood flow to the penis. Tadalafil is the generic term for Cialis, a popular drug known to treat erectile dysfunction. Vault’s Phytotress Hair System includes products made with minoxidil, a well-known hair loss treatment drug. With each of Vault’s kits, you’re getting products that are known to be effective at targeting your concerns.

In addition, the health care team at Vault comprises licensed nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and doctors who are well versed in men’s health issues. They’re sensitive to your concerns and provide you with the utmost privacy and care.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vault has broadened its services to include COVID-19 testing. When you visit Vault’s homepage, you may think that’s primarily what they offer, but rest assured that Vault is still committed to their men’s health offerings. Click the Speciality Care link at the top of the page to find all of the information you need about men’s health.

The Get Started quiz helps you hone in on your issues, and your results provide you with the kits that address your concerns. You have the option to read more detailed information about each kit before purchasing. Shipping is quick and discreet. Consultations are professional and comfortable. Overall, Vault offers a user-friendly experience.

Customer support

Vault includes a Help Center with several articles answering frequently asked questions. The articles are thorough and provide information about test results and men’s health. Unfortunately, many of these links lead to blank pages.

You can contact Vault using their email contact page. One of our testers used this page to ask a few questions about Vault’s men’s health offerings and did not receive a reply for over two months.

Vault includes a customer support phone number, but it only provides menu options related to COVID-19 testing. At this time, Vault does not offer a live chat function on its site.

What does Vault do?

Launched in 2018, Vault is a New York-based company that runs an online telemedicine platform providing personalized treatment programs for various men’s health concerns. At its inception, Vault specialized in treating men with low testosterone, a condition that affects one-quarter of men over age 30.

Vault gives virtual access to medical professionals who comprise a care team – nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and medical doctors. All are licensed, specializing in men’s health concerns and working together to address patients’ needs.

Vault’s telemedicine service allows you to skip the doctor’s office trips for health problems related to sex, fitness, immune function, hair growth, and more.

Other services

In addition to men’s health, Vault has expanded its services to cover:

  • COVID-19 testing
  • Mental health care
  • STI testing

Vault offers a COVID-19 saliva test kit ($90) that enables you to administer the test yourself at home, a great way to determine your status without potentially exposing others or yourself to the virus. This is not an antibody test but rather a test to determine if you have an active COVID-19 infection.

With Vault, your COVID-19 testing experience includes a Zoom call where an expert supervises as you administer your test. While the saliva test is straightforward, we’re impressed that Vault provides the supervision to improve effectiveness and promote greater peace of mind in these stressful circumstances.

Currently in a testing phase, Vault’s online mental health care is available only to residents of Minnesota. The company is expanding quickly and hopes to offer the service to more states soon. The platform provides mental health consultations with coaches and licensed therapists to treat anxiety, trauma, and depression. Currently, the service costs $46/week.

Vault does not yet offer at-home STI testing, but the company’s website shows that this service is coming soon.

How does it work?

Your experience with men’s telemedicine at Vault begins with an online consultation (potentially followed by a home visit from a healthcare professional). After that, your Vault provider will recommend the best treatment regime for your symptoms. If this involves medication, your prescription is filled by a third-party pharmacy and delivered to your home on a schedule to ensure you never run out. In most cases, your delivery schedule will be once every three months.

The home visit will be necessary for a quick blood draw only if you’re a candidate for low testosterone treatment.

While Vault is expanding its reach, all of its services are not yet available in all 50 states. To check to see if a treatment is available in your area, you can enter your zip code into Vault’s Get Started quiz.

Vault’s health products

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)

Often called Low-T or testosterone deficiency (TD), low testosterone is associated with:

  • Low sex drive
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Depression
  • Low energy
  • Increased body fat

Vault offers testosterone replacement therapy in the form of injections, creams, or pills, depending on your needs and preferences. You can see results after 3-4 weeks of treatment.

Vault’s treatment process begins with an initial online consultation. After that, a provider comes to your home to take a blood sample. Vault uses this sample to check your testosterone and other hormone levels, in addition to kidney and liver function, blood count, blood sugar, and lipid balance.

Based on this data, you receive a treatment recommendation. If your provider determines you could benefit from testosterone therapy and that it’s safe for you, you immediately begin your personalized treatment regimen.

Vault Sex Kit

This treatment plan ($75/month) is for men interested in improving their sex lives with increased arousal, more intense orgasms, and a deeper connection with their partner. The treatment regime begins with an initial telehealth consultation with a Vault provider. Following your discussion, Vault recommends a personalized treatment plan.

Your treatment regimen could include tadalafil and apomorphine lozenges and oral oxytocin drops.

  • Tadalafil is a PDE5 inhibitor that improves blood flow to the penis.
  • Apomorphine works in the brain to stimulate libido.
  • Oxytocin increases the intensity of orgasm and romantic feelings.

The lozenges usually work within 15-30 minutes. The oxytocin works within 1-3 hours, but it is more effective when used three days a week.

Vault Libido Kit

The Vault Libido Kit ($75/month) is aimed at men who want to boost their sex drive, strengthen their erections, and enhance their romantic/sexual connections. Beginning with a telehealth consultation, your Vault provider could offer you a combination of:

  • Bremelanotide nasal spray
  • Tadalafil tablets
  • Oxytocin sublingual tablets

Bremelanotide improves libido by increasing the levels of melanocortin, a neurotransmitter that regulates sexual desire. In conjunction with tadalafil, which improves blood flow to the penis, bremelanotide can also strengthen erections. Oxytocin intensifies romantic feelings. You should notice results instantly with these medications.

Body Kit

The Body Kit ($199/month) is for men looking to increase muscle mass, lose body fat, and boost their energy levels. After an initial telehealth consultation, Vault provides a personalized treatment plan. It could include:

  • CJC-1295 and ipamorelin subcutaneous injections
  • Ibutamoren capsules

Vault’s kit works by boosting growth hormone levels, which has various benefits, including improved energy levels, increased lean muscle mass, improved mood, better sleep, and better strength and stamina.

  • The CJC-1295 and ipamorelin injection boost growth hormone secretion from the pituitary gland via different yet synergistic mechanisms. The injections should be administered five times per week.
  • Taken orally, ibutamoren has the same effect as subcutaneously injected CJC-1295 and ipamorelin but not the same power. It should be taken nightly.

You should see results after 3-4 weeks of use.

Vitamin B12 MIC Fat Burner

Vault designed this treatment plan ($99/month) for men who want to support their overall wellbeing, have more energy, and burn more fat thanks to improved metabolism.

Subject to approval following your telehealth consultation, Vault provides you with a weekly vitamin B12 (MIC) injection. This injection combines:

  • Vitamin B12
  • Methionine
  • Inositol
  • Choline

These compounds work together to:

  • Increase your metabolism
  • Supply you with essential nutrients that improve your overall health
  • Control your mood and appetite
  • Process fats

You will likely be able to see results within the first few uses.

PhytoTress Hair System

The PhytoTress Hair System ($125/month) is designed for men who want to control male-pattern hair loss. After an initial telehealth consultation, your provider could prescribe PhytoWashRx™ shampoo and PhytoSolRx™ drops.

PhytoSolRx Solution

You apply this to the scalp once a day. It contains finasteride and latanoprost, two prescription-only medications limiting male pattern baldness and improving hair growth. This treatment also includes minoxidil, which helps maintain hair and fight male pattern hair loss.

PhytoWashRx Shampoo

The shampoo – a delicate solution that cleans the hair and scalp without irritating hair follicles – primes your hair for the delivery of PhytoSolRx drops. The shampoo itself also includes the same three medications as the drops.

With all of these prescription hair loss treatments, it usually takes several months before most men notice visible changes to their hair.

Brain Kit

The Brain Kit ($199/month) is for men looking to enhance their focus, attention, memory, and cognition. Following your consultation with a Vault provider, you’ll receive your treatment plan, which could include Semax nasal spray or subcutaneous injection (administered three times per week) and Vault Brain Boost capsules. These protect the brain from the stress hormone cortisol, which can induce oxidative damage in brain cells.

  • Semax promotes the repair of damaged brain cells and stimulates the regeneration of new brain cells.
  • The Brain Boost capsules further protect brain cells from the impact of toxins, enhancing mood, sleep, memory, and focus and reducing anxiety.

Patients usually start to see positive results around 3-4 weeks of use.

Immunity Kit

Vault provides the Immunity Kit for men who want to boost their immune system and reduce oxidative stress. If you’re approved for treatment after your initial consultation, Vault ships you once-daily thymosin alpha-1 subcutaneous injections and once-weekly glutathione intramuscular injections.

  • Thymosin alpha-1 is an immune system regulator that activates T cells, preventing infections.
  • Glutathione is an antioxidant that reduces oxidative stress and enhances overall health.

Getting started with Vault

Vault makes it easy to get started.

Step 1: Answer the initial health questionnaire

First, in response to a series of questions, tell Vault about the symptoms concerning you. For those new to telemedicine services, this is par for the course. Afterward, book an appointment to discuss your health symptoms and goals with a Vault provider.

Step 2: Your telemedicine consultation

Meet with a Vault healthcare provider via a telemedicine consultation. During this consultation, discuss your treatment options and ask any questions.

Vault’s consultation happens via a Zoom video call. This means that you can join the consultation from either a desktop or a mobile device. Just make sure you’ve downloaded the Zoom app if you plan to use your smartphone.

Vault Consultation

The consultation typically lasts 30-45 minutes. We recommend choosing a quiet, private place free from distractions because you must be open and forthcoming with the health professional to receive the best care.

Step 3: Receive your medications and start treatment

Next, Vault delivers personalized treatments to your home via UPS express delivery. Currently, they take about 1-2 weeks to arrive. Packaging is discreet, with no information that would breach your privacy.

If you’re seeking low testosterone treatment, note that a health professional will come to your house to collect a blood sample so that Vault can analyze it before shipping your treatment.

Step 4: Manage your telemedical experience

To ensure your treatment provides the intended results, Vault also offers ongoing at-home and virtual visits, during which you can discuss your progress and treatment.

Like Vault, Roman is a telemedicine service aimed at men’s health. They offer services related to sexual health, hair loss, allergy, and weight management, including a line of supplements. While Vault’s offerings are bundles aimed at specific areas – body, brain, hair, libido – Roman offers treatments for conditions like erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and genital herpes. Because their products are targeted, Roman’s prices are lower. If you want treatment for various issues, Vault’s bundles might be worth the extra cost.

Hims is another popular men’s telehealth company that addresses sexual health, hair loss, skin care, mental health, supplements, and primary care. Currently, their offerings are much more comprehensive than those offered by Vault:

  • Their sexual health products treat erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation in addition to offering a line of condoms, vibrators, and lubricants.
  • Along with hair loss products, they offer a line of shampoo and edible gummies to help with hair growth and strength.
  • The company provides a wide array of skin care products, including moisturizers and acne cream.
  • Primary care visits cover allergies, infections, cold & flu, and digestive problems.
  • Their mental health offerings include psychiatric care, group therapy, and individual therapy.
  • Supplements include those for muscle recovery, sleep, immunity, and skin care.

Hims also offers COVID-19 testing. Most of their services include a subscription. While prices are reasonable, treatment for multiple issues can add up. Unlike Vault, Hims does not offer service bundles.

BlueChew focuses primarily on treatment for erectile dysfunction, offering sildenafil and tadalafil (generic Viagra and Cialis) in chewable form, not pill form. Vault offers tadalafil tablets in both its Sex Kit and Libido Kit in addition to other treatments for sexual dysfunction.

If you know you only have trouble achieving erection and don’t need assistance with libido or romantic feelings, it’s more cost-effective and more convenient to purchase only ED chewables.

If you’re dealing with hair loss, you may be interested in the treatments offered by Keeps. This company provides products to slow hair loss and strengthen and regrow hair. They offer:

  • Finasteride tablets for receding hairlines
  • Minoxidil 5% for thinning hair
  • Finasteride + minoxidil combination treatment
  • Ketoconazole 2% shampoo for scalp health
  • Thickening shampoo
  • Thickening conditioner

Vault’s PhytoSolRx™ Solution and PhytoWashRx™ Shampoo include both finasteride and minoxidil in addition to latanoprost, known for halting male-pattern baldness and strengthening hair growth. Keeps products are sold in 3-month supplies, making their prices a bit cheaper than Vault’s products. Keeps doesn’t offer topical finasteride, opting instead for the oral form that has been more widely studied. Effectiveness of the oral finasteride is better established, but limited studies suggest that topical finasteride can improve the effectiveness of a minoxidil routine without introducing as many potential side effects as oral finasteride.
