It's very powerful and it has amazing detail

Review by: Adam from WA
Model: Oticon Xceed 3 UP
Bought: Jul 2021

Summary: Adam from Seattle, born with profound hearing loss, shares his transformative experience with the Oticon Xceed 3 BTE UP hearing aid. Having grown up deaf and transitioning from body aids to behind-the-ear models, from analog to digital, Adam has navigated various types of hearing aids. However, this latest device has significantly enhanced his auditory experience by amplifying sounds with more detail. He narrates newfound experiences: hearing the sizzle of eggs, distinguishing distant freeway noise, recognizing the sound of birds for the first time, and noticing the click of his car's turn signal. These experiences, previously inaccessible, have been inspiring for him. Adam highly recommends the Oticon Xceed for individuals with profound hearing loss, emphasizing its power and ability to reveal new sounds, enhancing daily life.

Fit perfectly

The sound quality of the Oticon Xceed instruments I purchased is an improvement over the instruments I previously wore. The new instruments fit perfectly and are very comfortable. I as especially impressed by the battery life. I have a severe hearing loss and the BTE units utilize 675 battery.

Good, with issues

Mine are "power" hearing aids with the custom mold domes. My hearing has substantially improved.
However, I find them a little difficult to put into my ears, and I'm not sure I understand the buttons and how they work.
In addition, the batteries are very difficult to install.

I am very surprise and happy with my purchase

Long time hearing aid customer, first time I tried Zip hearing. Sound quality is excellent, Improve my clarity in hearing speaking voice. Volume control great and the hearing clip for cell phone connection is the BEST. I like the fact that Zip hearing is upfront on everything, price list, other possible cost and arranging for a local fitting and follow up. Much easier then I thought it was going to be

Common questions about Oticon Xceed hearing aids

Bluetooth / ConnectivityDisposable BatteriesControls/AppsMiscellaneous

Choose questions category:

Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?
Xceed is Made for iPhone, which means it can connect directly with iPhones to stream music, phone calls, and more. If you don't have an iPhone, you can still get Bluetooth functionality via the ConnectClip accessory.
Can this hearing aid be paired directly to my Bluetooth TV?
No. To stream audio from the TV you'll need the TV Adapter 3.0
Does this hearing aid allow for hands-free phone calls?
Only via the ConnectClip accessory. You'll hear the caller's voice streamed through your hearing aids, but in order for them to hear you, you'd have to either hold the phone to your mouth, or if you want hands-free calling, clip the ConnectClip to your shirt and talk into that. The ConnectClip has a microphone on it that will pick up your voice for the caller, allowing you to keep the phone in your pocket/purse, etc.
How long do the batteries last?

Depending on a number of factors, both Xceed models (size 13 battery and size 675 battery), should last about 4 days.

How will I know when it's time to change the battery?
A few hours before the battery dies, you'll hear three steady beeps. This will usually happen a few times. Then, right before the battery dies, you'll hear four descending tones.
Are the batteries hard to change?
No. Most people can change these batteries just fine. However, if you're concerned about difficulty changing batteries, talk to your hearing provider to see if the Xceed UP 675 will work for you. That battery is the largest size you can get and will be the easiest of all sizes to change.
How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?
You can control the volume and program of this hearing aid using the onboard rockerswitch, Remote Control 3.0, or the app. If you use the app, you can also control background noise reduction and tinnitus relief sounds.
How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?
To turn the hearing aid on, simply close the battery door. Opening the battery door will turn the hearing aid off.
Does the app have a “Find My Hearing Aid” feature?
Yes. However, in order to use this feature, you wouldn've had to have setup the app and paired your hearing aids to your phone, prior to losing them. Once the hearing aids have been paired, if you lose them, the app will help you locate them, so long as the hearing aids are powered on. If the hearing aids are powered off, or if their batteries have died, the app will show you the last location of the hearing aids when they were powered on.
Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?
Yes, both Xceed models are compatible with the CROS devices listed above on this page. Note that Oticon's CROS device is a receiver-in-canal (RIC) style device, as opposed to the Xceed, which is a BTE.
Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?
Yes, both Xceed models come with a telecoil.

Plug it into the back of your TV or soundbar and the audio will be streamed directly to your hearing aids. Others can keep the TV at their preferred volume level, while you set your own volume via the app or on the hearing aids themselves.
RATING2
The image of ConnectClip hearing aids
ConnectClip, $249

ConnectClip, $249

ConnectClip has two features. First, it's most commonly used as a Bluetooth streamer that allows you to stream audio from your phone to your hearing aids. If you have an iPhone, you don't need this, because iPhones stream directly to Oticon Xceed hearing aids. If you have an Android or any other phone and you want to stream from your phone, you need this. Even if you have an iPhone, it still may make sense to get this, because it does allow for hands free phone calls. Wear it around your neck and the microphone picks up your voice for the person on the other end of the call to hear, so you don't have to hold you the phone to your mouth when speaking. The second feature of ConnectClip is its ability to work as a remote microphone. If you have a hard time hearing in noise this accessory is a lifesaver. Attach the ConnectClip to a companion's shirt and their voice will stream directly to your hearing aids. Their voice will come through much stronger than all the competing noise in the environment.
RATING3
The image of Remote Control 3.0 hearing aids
Remote Control 3.0, $199

Remote Control 3.0, $199

You probably don't need this. Most people use the app to control their hearing aids, and if not the app, then the push button on the hearing aid itself. But if neither of those suit you, this remote is a simple way to control the volume and program.

KEY FEATURES

1. Disposable battery

The image of Disposable battery hearing aids feature

The model shown is powered by a size 675 disposable battery. Xceed is also available with a size 13 battery (shown further down this page). Most of our customers purchase the 675 battery model, as it is more powerful, with a maximum gain of 87 dB, compared to the rechargeable model’s maximum gain of 83 dB. The batteries on both models will last about 4 days. Your purchase from ZipHearing includes a 1 year supply of disposable batteries.

2. Ear hook

The image of Ear hook hearing aids feature

The ear hook connects to the receiver (speaker) of the hearing aid and channels the sound down the tubing and into an ear mold that sits inside the ear. Note that in the 3D model shown on this page, the earmold tubing and earmold are not pictured.

3. Indicator light

The image of Indicator light hearing aids feature

The LED indicator light can be programmed by your hearing provider to indicate a few different things, such as the program that the hearing aids are on, when you have reached minimum and maximum volume, and if the battery is low. If you think the indicator light might be helpful, discuss these options with your hearing care provider.

4. Microphone

5. Rocker switch

The image of Rocker switch hearing aids feature

The rocker switch controls the volume of the hearing aid, and holding down the bottom rocker switch button can mute the hearing aid, and put it into flight mode. Some people use the rocker switch & push button exclusively to control the hearing aids, and others use the app to control the hearing aids. Others (most people), use a combination of both the app and rocker switch to make adjustments to their hearing aids. You likely won’t have to use these buttons often, but some people find them handy to make quick adjustments to their hearing aids when they change listening environments (ie, entering a noisy restaurant, or a quiet room). Your hearing provider will go over the options available and make sure your hearing aids are set up to your ideal preferences.
