Public Health

Public health careers help to promote and maintain healthy communities. People who hold public health jobs look at the big picture of health care in a certain area or among a specific group of people. While they may assist and treat individual patients, these health care professionals are usually looking for solutions to help a large quantity of people in need. Rather than assessing and treating only one patient’s symptoms, they search for the cause and treatment methods for the entire group of people that are suffering.

Careers in public health focus on a variety of topics such as environmental health, health policy, epidemiology, maternal and child health, global health and more. Since medical emergencies such as those caused by extreme weather and war will continue to occur, the need for public health professionals continues to rise.
