Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine

Careers in physical therapy and sports medicine require a firm knowledge of rehabilitation therapy and treatment. These health care professionals treat patients with a wide range of physical challenges. The treatment plans can often take place over long periods of time, so if you plan on becoming a physical therapist you must have patience with the recovery process. In physical therapy jobs, you’ll see a variety of patients; however, in sports medicine careers, you’ll usually work with athletes or patients who have fairly active lifestyles.

If you’re interested in sports medicine and physical therapy careers, you may also want to consider becoming a podiatrist, prosthetist or working with the musculoskeletal system and becoming an orthopedic doctor. All of these careers require knowledge of the human body and how it functions. For more information about physical therapy and sports medicine careers, check out these articles.
